Prva značajnija utrka za najbolju igru godine pripala je Elden Ringu.
Ovaj open world akcijski RPG studija FromSoftware proglašen je najboljom igrom 2022. godine u sklopu Golden Joystick Awardsa, inače izbora u kojem odlučuju isključivo igrači.
Osim nagrade za najbolju igru 2022. godine, Elden Ring je uspio da ugrabi još tri nagrade i to u kategorijama za najbolji vizualni dizajn, najbolju multiplayer igru te nagradu kritike.
